This was since october 2012 my current bike. A 125 cc aircooled 4 stroke 1-cylinder with 14,3 HP/ 8600 tpm. According factory specifications it should have a topspeed of 111 km/h (69 mph).
This was my first secondhand bike, and the first one with a German numberplate. In Germany they call this a "Leichtkraftrad" and you don't have to pay roadtaxes.
It was from 1996 and it had run only 10.500 km (6525 m).
It had a windscreen, side bags and a small topcase. Further it has a very relaxed seat with forward controls. I really had to get used riding with these, it feels as if your feet are at the front axle. I had the original footrests and I put them back on the bike.
The engine seemed to be at its best around 8000 rpm, that is also when it is bringing it's maximum torque (11 Nm) and the speed lies then around 85 km/h (53 mph). Fast enough for the small roads on the flat land. I had lots of fun riding it untill spring 2017.

Living in the Netherlands again I have bought a bike overhere. A Kawasaki EX500S (or GPZ500S) for 550,- Euro. It's not a very beautiful; the direction indicator on the left front side was taped on the bike and it has had some falling and/or sliding on both sides.
But during the testride it fellt good, it rode straight, the brakes were working en the engine sounded OK.

It's a 2-cylinder 500cc bringing 60 bhp and a weight of 178 kg. This should be enough to let it reach 100 kmh within 5 seconds and a topspeed of nearly 200 kmh.
I have allready changed oil, oilfilter, cooling liquid, brake pads, spark plugs and airfilter, and I've checked the valve play. The odometer stood at 4999.9 km and is stuck there.

September 2017 one of the carborators is leaking, so it needed a new seal.
2018 I replaced the brake fluid and had a new rear tire (Maxiss 130/90) mounted.
2020 I replaced oil and oilfilter.
April 2022 I did trade in the motorcycle for a new Benelli Imperiale.

Conclusion
After 5 years and 11894 kilometers the avarage gas milage was a little over 4 liters/100kilometers.
I liked the performance and the handling.
The main disadvantage was the uncomfortable sitting position on longer rides.

The bikes before..
My first bike was a MZ ETZ250. I bought it in 1983 and started riding on a 'practise license"(it allowed you to ride in your home town without a driving license). Mine was the Standard model, it was the most simple version which in contrast with the Luxe models had no tacho, no disc brake and no oil pump, so I had to fill it with two stroke gas. It sounded like a moped and drove a bit like one; top speed was 130 km/h (81 mph),but I have never seen more then 128 km/h on the clock with a feeling that the frame was made of rubber. Also the acceleration wasn't very impressive. On my first vacation with this bike it found myself riding between the lorry's on the highway from Liegge up in the hills, 5th gear was to much for the engine. Despite that I had for three years a lot of pleasure with this bike.
In 1986 I bought a Suzuki GR650, a fourstroke 2-cylinder, something completely different. It could go faster, had better roadholding, real brakes and I felt like having a real bike. Pity though it was made on a monday. Different parts went broke, for example the valves. And an open chain wasn't practible when your riding winters. Shortly, the bike disappointed and in 1987 it was replaced by an XV920 and this was my bike; driving shaft and espacially the V-twin engine, as if you were carried by the thunder. It was a real shame that this bike went total loss in 1988 but it was directly replaced by a new XV920, and I had it till 2012.
